【SDGs】猫を交通事故から守り 住み続けられる街づくりを目指す

クルマ社会の中で猫も安全に暮らせるようにと保護猫の譲渡会を行っている堀江康生さん。人口の多い地域では、餌付けなどによって外で暮らす猫の生活環境が整っているがゆえに、猫の交通事故が後を絶ちません。そこで道路の安全性を高めるためのインフラ整備の1つとして、猫の交通事故を減らすことも必要ではないかと取り組みを開始。今後はさまざまな動物がクルマ社会と共存できる環境を作りたいと語る堀江さんの思い描く未来とは？

Mr. Yasuo Horie runs adoption events for rescued cats so that cats can live safely in this world of cars. In densely populated areas, outdoor cats have a good living environment in terms of food and so on. However, there is a constant stream of accidents where cats are hit by cars. He began working on this issue, believing that reducing the number of such accidents is necessary as part of infrastructure development to improve road safety. Mr. Horie says he wants to create an environment where all sorts of animals can coexist with cars. What kind of future does he envision?
