【SDGs】接ぎ木の技術がコーヒーの未来を守る

いつまでもおいしいコーヒーが飲み続けられることを目指す南川剛士さん。近年、地球温暖化による気候変動で、2050年にはコーヒー栽培地と収穫量の減少が懸念されている中、南川さんは「接ぎ木」という植物の修復能力をいかした栽培技術を用いて、良質で希少な品種のコーヒー豆の安定的な生産を目指しています。この取り組みを通して、生産地としてのブランディングの確立と生産者の収入を安定させたいと語る南川さんの思い描く未来とは?

Mr. Tsuyoshi Minamikawa is committed to making sure that people can enjoy delicious coffee forever. Recently, there have been concerns that the amount of coffee-growing land and harvests will decrease by 2050 due to climate change caused by global warming. So there, Mr. Minamikawa is aiming to reliably produce high-quality, rare varieties of coffee beans using a cultivation technique called "Grafting" which makes use of a plant’s regenerative ability. Through this initiative, Mr. Minamikawa says he wants to establish a brand for the area as a coffee-producing region and stabilize the income of producers. What kind of future does he envision?
